The State of the PS3 6 Months Out
theInquirer have been looking at the state of the PS3 with it being around only 6 months left until the November launch. At this stage most of the debugging should have been completed and prototypes, and also especially development kits, should be available. The problem is, none of this is happening and theInquirer put it down to 2 reasons:1. The current PS3’s are too big, by around 50%, to fit in the empty boxes that we have seen. This is solvable because electronics always get smaller, but 6 months out from launch it is a bit of an issue to say the least.
2. Sony is still bidding on components for the PS3 - how can debugging and serious testing occur if the development is not final?
While Sony have committed themselves to a launch this year, as the time nears things will certainly get interesting, let’s just hope that members of the Sony PS3 team aren’t overly susceptible to high levels of stress.
