Xbox 360 To Match PS3's HD Potential

Microsoft has officially announced that they plan to upgrade the Xbox 360's 1080i capability to the "Holy Grail of HD," 1080p, with a fall software update. And while that new HD-DVD add-on is likely to take advantage of the new visual enhancement, no hardware is necessary to add the 1080p potential to the system. As Microsoft said, "all 360 consoles around the world" will soon have HD in all its glory.
For those who don't know, the "i" in 1080i stands for interlaced, while the "p" stands for progressive-scan. The latter always produces a cleaner, crisper picture, even though the average viewer may not find the change significant.
