Sony has announced that all PS3 titles will be required to release on Blu-Ray discs in order to assist in their anti-piracy initiatives. This will not negatively impact DVD Movie playback or Backwards compatability. This will undoubtably result in higher costs for game disc production for the first year or two but should help hold off the rampant piracy that has occured on the PS2 and PS1.
